General technical

RV-C is an industry-standard communication network used in many newer RVs to allow onboard systems to communicate with one another. Instead of each device operating independently, systems such as lighting, climate control, power management, generators, water systems, and tank monitoring can share information and be controlled through a common network. Devices are then controlled through a touchscreen, where things often fall short.

LaunchControl HUB connects to your RV's existing RV-C network, automatically discovers compatible devices, and provides a modern, customizable interface for monitoring and controlling your coach. While RV-C is becoming increasingly common, not every RV is equipped with an RV-C network. If you're unsure whether your RV includes RV-C, please contact us—we're happy to help determine if LaunchControl HUB is right for your coach.

No. LaunchControl is designed to work alongside your existing RV-C control system, not replace it.

Systems such as Firefly and other RV-C-based control systems continue to perform their normal functions. LaunchControl HUB connects to the same RV-C network, allowing it to monitor devices, provide additional control options, create custom web dashboards, and automate your RV without interfering with your existing controls.

If your RV already has one or more touchscreen control panels, you have options. LaunchControl Touch Panels can be added alongside your existing panels, giving you additional control points throughout your RV, or they can replace touch panels if you choose. Many owners choose to install LaunchControl panels in locations such as the bedside, entryway, or driver's area while continuing to use their factory-installed controls.

Think of LaunchControl as an enhancement to your RV's existing systems—adding a modern, customizable control experience while preserving the functionality you already have.

LaunchControl communicates with compatible devices on your RV's existing RV-C network. Depending on the equipment installed by your RV manufacturer, it can monitor and control systems such as lighting, climate control, battery and power management, inverter operation, generators, tank levels, water systems, and more. Every RV is different, so the available controls and information will vary based on the devices installed in your coach and how they interface to the RV-C network.

In addition to RV-C, LaunchControl can communicate directly with Victron devices through a Cerbo GX, with select Bluetooth devices, Shelly devices, and with MQTT devices through an MQTT server.

No. LaunchControl is designed to operate entirely stand-alone, or on your local RV network if you have one. It does not require an Internet connection for normal operation. Your dashboards, touch panels, automations, and control functions continue to work whether you're connected to Wi-Fi, camping off-grid, or miles from the nearest cell tower.

Internet access will allow for online software updates, internet time setting, and remote access.

No. LaunchControl products do not require a subscription. Once installed, all core functionality operates locally within your RV. Future firmware updates may add new features, but there are no recurring fees required to use your LaunchControl system.

Yes. LaunchControl HUB includes a responsive web interface that can be accessed from most modern smartphones, tablets, and computers. No app installation is required—simply open a web browser to monitor and control your RV.

Your web browser needs to see the hub over the network, so join the LaunchControl-HUB access point, or connect the Hub to your existing access point that your device is on. Browse to launchcontrol.local or if connected directly to the Hub browse to 192.168.4.1 - See the Wi-Fi setup guide for more info.

Many newer motorhomes and an increasing number of towable RVs include an RV-C network. If your coach has an integrated control system and touchscreen for lighting, climate, tanks, or power management, there's a good chance it uses RV-C.
Firefly systems commonly use RV-C, although the available devices and connection points vary by coach and installation.

However, RV-C compatibility varies by manufacturer and model year. If you're unsure, please contact us with your RV's make, model, and year—we'll be happy to help determine compatibility before you purchase.

LaunchControl is designed to work with compatible RV-C systems, rather than specific RV brands. Many manufacturers use RV-C across some or all of their product lines, but implementation varies by model and model year.

Many popular RV control systems use RV-C, including systems from Firefly, Spyder Controls, SilverLeaf, BMPRO, and Intellitec. Some Lippert OneControl, iN-Command, HWH, Winnebago Connect and other systems also use RV-C for some or all connected equipment.

Yes. LaunchControl is designed to be installed by technically inclined RV owners who are comfortable looking around wiring of RV systems. Documentation and video guides are provided, and optional remote installation assistance is available for a fee if you'd like additional guidance during setup. Email support is always free.

A qualified RV service professional who is comfortable working with low-voltage RV wiring should be able to install LaunchControl.

It's lightning fast, just a second or so before touch panels are ready, and not much longer for the web server and self-hosted Wi-Fi. It feels nearly instant.

LaunchControl is designed to tolerate normal, unexpected loss of vehicle power without requiring a shutdown procedure. Its embedded architecture avoids the removable boot media and general-purpose operating-system maintenance associated with many computer-based solutions.

Raspberry Pi and Home Assistant are excellent platforms for experimentation and home automation, and many RV owners successfully use them for impressive custom projects. However, LaunchControl HUB was designed with a different goal: to provide a dedicated appliance that behaves like the built-in systems in your RV.

Because LaunchControl HUB runs on purpose-built embedded hardware, it starts in just a few seconds, allowing it to begin monitoring and controlling your RV almost immediately after power is applied. Unlike a general-purpose computer, there's no operating system to boot, no SD card to corrupt during an unexpected power loss, and no routine operating system maintenance to perform.

The result is a system that's always ready, highly reliable, and designed for the realities of life on the road. Simply install it, turn it on, and use it—without worrying about operating system updates, storage failures, or maintaining a separate computer.

LaunchControl HUB

LaunchControl HUB is the central controller for the LaunchControl ecosystem. It connects to your RV's existing RV-C network, automatically discovers compatible devices, and provides a modern, web-based interface for monitoring, control, automation, and configuration. Additionally, it provides connectivity to Victron devices, Shelly devices, Bluetooth devices and can connect to an MQTT server.

It also serves dashboards and control pages to LaunchControl Touch Panels and web browsers throughout your RV.

No. The HUB creates an access point that is used for configuration and control, and is used for the optional touch panels to connect. No additional connections are required for full functionality.

For extended functionality, the hub can also simultaneously connect to an external access point for configuration and control. The hub can track multiple access points and priority can be assigned to make automatic switching easy. The hub can also connect to and manage travel routers or Starlink systems.

We suggest using a travel router (like a GL.iNet Beryl AX) to manage Wi-Fi in your RV. Tailscale is a free application built into the router that provides remote access. See our remote access video for more information.

Yes. One of LaunchControl's primary features is complete dashboard customization. Build pages using the controls and information that matter most to you, organize them however you'd like, and create different pages for different purposes. Every RV and every owner is different, so your control panels should be too.

No. LaunchControl HUB can be used entirely from its built-in web interface using your existing phones, tablets, or computers. LaunchControl Touch Panels provide convenient, always-available dedicated control stations, but they are optional.

The hub has a single cable that connects to your RV-C network at any convenient location. The exact location will vary by RV, but often there is a spare port found on a Firefly loadcenter or terminator tap. The HUB ships with a 1.5 ft cable with a connector type that will fit your coach. The cable will provide power and RV-C network connectivity to the HUB. The hub can also be powered over USB-C if that is necessary, but that would be an unusual case.

A qualified RV service professional who is comfortable working with low-voltage RV wiring should be able to install the HUB.

LaunchControl HUB includes a built-in web-based setup interface that guides you through device discovery, dashboard creation, automation setup, and system configuration. No special software is required—everything is managed through your web browser.

Yes. LaunchControl HUB includes built-in MQTT client support for integration with third-party automation systems, custom applications, and home automation platforms.

Yes, it can. LaunchControl HUB can integrate with Home Assistant through MQTT, allowing your RV to become part of a broader smart home or automation environment while maintaining reliable local operation. The HUB can publish and subscribe to an external MQTT server. Setup for this falls outside of our support offerings.

Yes, through a third-party MQTT server. A Victron Cerbo GX has this built in.

Not yet, but we are working on smartphone apps that would allow for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration right onto your vehicle dashboard. For now you can access the HUB through your web browser or dedicated touchscreens.

The best option for adding temperature sensors is to use RuuviTags.

These can be added to the inside, outside, or even in your fridge! You can add these by enabling Bluetooth devices, or, If you have a Victron Cerbo GX, it's better to add these to the Cerbo where they will show up under Victron devices.
